Richard Hoare
I came to painting through drawing and even those early encounters with the great artists of the past, I was always sketching as I viewed their works in the Museums . The experience of drawing and painting have now melted into one .

It is hard to overestimate the vitality of the role that printmaking has in my work . It underpins all the development of my path . The Monotypes and Monoprints stand as individual drawings in that, although often part of a series, they are Unique to themselves . Each one contains a spark of the unveiling of the deep traces left by the experience of the Landscape in my consciousness .

In its inherent nature, the medium of watercolour will always serve to convey the transience and subtlety of Light in a way that oil painting does not . The palette of colours I use are identical in Oil and Water colour .
